Classical Roots & Country Boots
Charlotte Tracie began studying violin at the age of two with her mother, Ashley Desmond, and Ramona Stirling, co-founder of Rocky Mountain Strings. Trained for many years in the Suzuki method, she developed a strong classical foundation before discovering her passion for fiddle music and improvisation—an interest sparked and nurtured by neighbor, friend and local legend Ted Shupe, who introduced her to bluegrass through jam sessions, fiddle contests, and his acoustic music festival,Tedfest.
Since those early years with her first tiny violin, Charlotte has grown as a musician by leaps and bounds, now performing comfortably across a wide range of styles and genres from classical to country, gospel to pop. She has been a member of Rocky Mountain Strings and currently serves as Principal Second Violinist of the Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Kayson Brown. An active fiddler, she regularly performs with country rock bands Redwood Revival and The Alex Elggren Band as well as the bluegrass group The Haymakers, and she has shared the stage with artists including Nathan Pacheco, Lexi Walker, Adassa, Halos Praise, and The Piano Guys.
In addition to violin, Charlotte plays guitar, writes original songs, and composes for full orchestra. Her artistic interests extend to filmmaking and visual art, reflecting a deep love of storytelling through a diverse array of mediums.
